City of Clearwater Recreation Card
Because we use the City of Clearwater fields, the City requires that all players have a valid City of Clearwater Recreation Card (good through 1/15/24) in order to be eligible to play.
Once you have purchased or renewed your child’s card, please email a copy of your City Recreation Card receipt to us at Christy@ChargersSoccer.com. Registered players will be waitlisted until we receive a copy of your receipt. Upon receipt, then they will be rostered to a team.
Frequently Asked Questions about the City Rec Card: Although most information can be found on the City of Clearwater Parks & Recreation website here are some FAQs.
If we live within the City Limits, what documentation do I need to show the City to obtain the Resident price?
Clearwater residents can obtain a resident recreation card by completing an application and showing two proofs of residency (utility bill, voter registration card, tax receipt or rent slip).
What is the cost to purchase a City Rec Card?
Clearwater AND Safety Harbor Residents** – $7 + tax
Non-Residents of Clearwater or Safety Harbor – $120 + tax
** Due to the Clearwater Interlocal Agreement, for City Rec Card purposes, Safety Harbor Residents are considered Clearwater City residents.
I see on the City’s website that Non-Resident Cards cost $180, but just above it says $120?
The lower $120 price is for recreational programs. The $180 price is for competitive programs. Tell the City staff that your child will be playing in the Chargers Rec program so your non-resident price will be $120.
Please note: that if your address is within the City Limits, the resident price is $7 + tax.
Is the purchase of the City Rec Card just for my child to play in the Chargers Rec program?
No, the purchase of a City of Clearwater Recreation Card not only allows your child to play soccer, but you are also able to access City of Clearwater sponsored parks and programs at a discounted rate!
My child currently has a City Rec Card that expires later this year (but before 1/15/24), do I have to purchase a new one now?
Yes, because the City requires that to participate in our program your child’s City Rec card must be valid through 1/15/24. But don’t worry because when you renew their new card now, the new year is added at the end of your current expiration date. For example, if their current card expires on 10/30/2023, when you renew it, their new expiration date will be 10/30/2024.
Where can I go to purchase/renew my child’s City Rec Card?
City recreation cards can only be purchased directly through the City of Clearwater at any of their centers. Click here for the City of Clearwater’s Recreation Center Locator to find one closest to you.
What if I have a business in the City Limits?
If you own a business that falls within the City Limits to be considered a Clearwater resident by Parks and Recreation, you can use that address to procure the Clearwater resident recreation card rate. CLICK HERE for more information on the City’s website.
